Mrs. Anna Jarnehammar, Vice President of the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and Mrs. Si Gao, Head of IVL China, welcomed Mrs. Jane Jeppsson, CEO of Josab Water Solutions AB, Kai Qi, CEO of Clear Industry, and Professor Jinying Yan, Senior Technical Consultant, to the IVL in an informal meeting on the afternoon of June 22.

Josab, a proponent of carbon neutrality and a circular economy, hopes to integrate LCA systems into its products and environmental solutions in Sweden and China as soon as possible. Compared with traditional methods, the insect biodegradable food waste treatment solution developed by Clear Industry, can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, it shortens the regeneration cycle of proteins in nature. Mr. Qi introduced the company’s latest kitchen waste treatment achievements and equipment in recent years.

At the same time, the two parties held in-depth discussions on the carbon footprint, the calculation of carbon neutrality and the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in the field of food waste treatment. The meeting also confirmed that the two parties will jointly promote the LCA in the field of kitchen waste insect technology.

The next step is the development of these technologies here in Sweden, this starts with the realization of a first pilot project with the help of the IVL.
